We’re proud to say that all of our punnets are now made from fully recyclable plastic, so please do pop your empty punnets in your recycling. We use a type of plastic known as PET (identified by the number 1), which is the same plastic that drinks bottles are made of. It’s light, strong, and keeps your snacks as fresh as can be.
As well as being fully recyclable, we’ve also made sure we use more recycled plastic when making our punnets. Each punnet is now made from at least 50% recycled plastic, which is sandwiched between two very thin layers of non-recycled plastic.
While we know plastic is far from perfect, it is light (so takes less energy to transport), strong (so your snacks are well protected) and keeps your snacks fresher for longer (which reduces food waste).
Nevertheless just as we’re always imagining different, better snacks, we’re also always looking out for different, better packaging. We make sure we’re up to date with the latest innovations so we can do better when it comes to our packaging, and in turn do better by the environment.
We have been working hard on alternative packaging and we think we've cracked it with a paper based punnet! We have been working with a range of material suppliers and packaging manufacturers over the past ten months to get this just right and to ensure our snacks stay fresh.
We hope to start trialling our paper based punnet in our subscription range later this year.
